Throughout November 2021, 100 Soldiers and 75 Poppy wreaths will be on display in the Falkland Islands

After months of careful planning, we are delighted to see the soldiers and silhouettes on display in the Falklands.

They are on view outside Christchurch Cathedral in Stanley, and at Mount Pleasant

  • Securing the figures

All of the figures have been specially adapted to secure them against the powerful winds and natural elements on the island. We have added metal hoops to secure guy lines to as well as welding on foldable base plates at the feet to place sand bags on.

  • Stanley

Stanley is the island’s tiny capital and whilst village-sized, has the amenities you would expect of a large town with a lot to discover.

Our figures are displayed outside the most southerly Anglican cathedral in the world, the iconic Christ Church Cathedral.

  • A team effort

Standing with Giants extend a huge and warm thank you to all of the volunteers and helpers who have made this possible.

Great team work!

Over 20 volunteers helped to install the figures, including some from the MoD camp at Mount Pleasant.

The shipment of soldiers and poppy wreaths left Oxford in July 2021 to travel by road and sea to the islands.

They were seen off in specially constructed wooden crates by Oxford’s Lord Mayor, Mark Lygo, Standing with Giant’s founder, Dan Barton, and volunteers Lou and Lucy.
